I’m so glad you are here. I'm married to Greg and a mom to three grown children, plus two by marriage. Born and raised in South Florida, from Fort Lauderdale down to Mile Marker Zero (the Florida Keys for those who aren’t familiar with the mile marker reference). My family and I re-settled in Northwest Georgia in 1990. Growing up on the coast, I never lost the lure of water. When our nest emptied, we found a piece of land on the Etowah River and built our forever home.

Along with water, the arts are a huge part of our lives. My husband is an artist who creates with clay and makes functional art pottery for everyday living. As fate would have it, all three of our children have the artist gene. My son, Derek, is a professional musician in a rock band (a bassist) who loves to illustrate. My second daughter, Kim, is a pet portrait artist, and my third, Jenna, creates images of her favorite musicians in bright acrylics. As for me, I have been a published author since 2005 and have now written monthly articles about nonprofits for five years. They are published by AroundAbout Local Media in Around Woodstock, Around Canton, Towne Laker, and Around Acworth. This assignment has turned into a book project called Chasing World Changers. My journey began in Miami with a mother and grandmother who made sure I knew about Jesus. Like many of us, however, I strayed away from faith during my teen years, then got completely knocked off course when tragedy struck. My friend’s little sister got shot and killed by her boyfriend on the next block and then a couple years later, my close-to-perfect oldest brother was murdered while serving in the Navy in Jacksonville, Florida. Profoundly affected by this violence, I shut down emotionally and buried deep anger and resentment. I blamed God for allowing my family to be shattered and never told anyone because I thought you were not allowed to be mad at him. I never attended church again. That is, until years later at the birth of my first child when God got my full attention. Even though I had ignored him for years, I knew without a doubt I was completely incapable of caring for this precious life without divine help. I surrendered my life to Jesus at my son’s arrival, November 5, 1987. Hungry for God, I pulled my little red Bible off the shelf, the one my grandmother had given me when I was nine. I read and studied it regularly. I have been a sold-out follower of Jesus ever since.

We relocated to Georgia when my husband gained employment at Coca-Cola in Atlanta. Two more daughters came to complete our family. Soon after our arrival in Georgia I met an incredible woman named Anne. She has turned out to be a life-long friend and mentor, the tool God uses to shape and mold my spiritual life in fabulous ways. The first and most life-changing thing she did was to invite me to Bible Study Fellowship International (BSF). We packed up all of the kids (she had three, too) and headed to Marietta to listen to lectures and attend small group discussion. Both of us loved it, always thirsty for more. Studying in this disciplined way, I had to get alone with God. While there, I discovered the inexhaustible love God has for each and every one of us. This great love has brought healing and restoration and has broken down the thick wall I built around my heart as a broken teenager. Sometimes entire sections of the wall came down, others just a brick or two at a time. Healing has been a long, hard, but beautiful journey. Anyone and everyone is invited to freely receive his incredible gift of restoration and start this adventure; it entails listening to his voice and building a genuine relationship with Jesus.

So inspired during quiet time and all that Jesus continued to pour into my heart while praying, I wrote a Bible study called The Listening Heart. I have been teaching this method for years now and long to invite anyone I meet to begin the journey of hearing God’s magnificent voice, especially those who are hurting, confused or damaged by all of the nastiness this mean world dishes out. Even though I have been teaching spiritual disciplines for years and know this is what opened my heart to God’s voice, I also know adhering to rules and following studies is never enough. When we answer God’s call to “Come to me with your ears wide open,” he shows us real listening is all about relationship. The amazing fact that the God of the universe wants to spend time with us, encouraging us to move forward despite any and every life circumstance, is nothing short of a miracle. C.S. Lewis said it this way, "God doesn't want something from us, he simply wants us."  I live to share this message and would love to share it with you here. Statement of Faith

  • I believe in God the Father, Creator of everything, who loves the world he created, and sent his only Son to be our Savior.
  • I believe that God the Son is Jesus of Nazareth, the Savior sent by God, Israel’s Messiah, born of a virgin, fully man and fully God.
  • I believe that God the Holy Spirit quickens us who are born sinners from death to life, indwells all those who receive Jesus Christ by faith as Lord and Savior and continuously transforms believers to resemble Jesus Christ.
  • I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried and the third day he bodily arose from the dead, guaranteeing the bodily resurrection of all those who have received eternal life through faith in him.
  • I believe salvation from the judgment of sin (spiritual death), forgiveness of sin and eternal life are free gifts of God’s grace and cannot be earned, deserved, inherited or bought.
  • I believe in the imminent, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this earth to reign in righteousness and justice.
  • I believe the Bible is the perfect, inerrant word of God, inspired by the Spirit of God, and thus the supreme and final authority for life, faith, and practice.
  • I believe spending time alone with God praying daily, reading and studying the Bible are as necessary for the sustenance of spiritual life as food and water are for physical life.
I believe followers of Jesus should endeavor to obey the greatest commandment, to love God with our heart, soul, mind and strength (Matthew 22:37-38), and to carry out his great commission (Matthew 28:19-20), sharing the good news of the gospel with all people and teaching them to obey God.
