Chasing world changers for the last four years revolutionized my entire perspective on life. The chase began when the local magazine editor presented me with the idea to write “Helping Hands” articles featuring nonprofit organizations, all to highlight what they are doing to serve others and inspire our community members to get on board. The first thing I notice about those I talk to—everyday people who are busy changing the world—is that they are heroes and don’t know it or show it. They pour out the best of life in service to others. These sacrificial souls feed the masses, rescue orphans and sex-trafficked, serve the least, the forgotten and those incapable of caring for themselves, and so much more. You would be amazed at the creativity and variety of ways these nonprofits choose to serve humanity.

Hearing their amazing stories did more than challenge my perspective; it has brought healing to my heart and hope for the future. But even more than that, I realized these humble servants unintentionally inspire us to follow them in living on purpose. Because they live life on purpose, we see what real satisfaction and fulfillment looks like. My hope is for you to discover a place of purpose here, like joining in on something that makes your heart soar. Maybe even gaining courage to follow through on a spark you may have (or may get by experiencing these stories) by starting your own nonprofit. More important, I pray these true stories open your eyes to see that even though you may not know it yet, you are the hero of your own story, and it is quite possible for you, too, to change the world and live an epic life!

Here is a sampling of the articles that came from chasing world changers. I interview the founders and staff leaders of nonprofits and write monthly features about them for AroundAbout Local Media family of magazines: Around Canton, Around Woodstock, Around Acworth, and the Townelaker.
